Sonipat civic body poll: Saini pitches ‘triple-engine model’ to woo electorate

Sonipat: As the Sonipat municipal corporation elections are approaching, the ruling BJP has launched an all-out campaign, projecting governance on the ground, to woo the electorate. On Monday, Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini began an extensive outreach drive from the Rai Assembly segment, rolling out a packed schedule of 20 programmes across all 22 wards of the civic body. The marathon tour, marked with direct public engagement initiatives such as “Chai Par Charcha”, saw the chief minister interacting with residents, listening to their grievances and pitching the BJP’s development agenda.Framing the civic polls as a gateway to accelerated growth, Saini emphasised the party’s “triple-engine govt” pitch — aligning the Centre, state and local body under one political dispensation — to ensure faster execution of development projects. He urged the voters to back BJP candidates, highlighting that policy delivery would be more efficient with political convergence across all tiers.During his address, Saini launched a sharp attack on the Congress over the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill, 2026, alleging that opposition leaders deliberately avoided parliamentary proceedings on the issue. He maintained that the BJP remained committed to women’s empowerment and indicated that Haryana would push forward a unified proposal in support of strengthening women’s rights. The CM also announced plans to clean the Yamuna, stating that water treatment plants (WTPs) and sewage treatment plants (STPs) would be installed to prevent untreated waste from entering the river. He added that ensuring clean water flow would also support agricultural use.The campaign also witnessed residents joining the BJP, which the CM described as a sign of growing public confidence in the party’s policies. He emphasised that the scale of outreach — 20 programmes across 22 wards — reflected the BJP’s determination to consolidate support at the grassroots level. To complement the political push, the BJP-ruled state govt also stepped up administrative outreach through its ongoing “Samadhan Shivirs”, aimed at resolving citizen grievances. As part of the initiative, a district-level camp focusing on Parivar Pehchan Patra-related issues was organised on Monday.MSID:: 130802522 413 |
