Bengaluru: With notices and hearings nearing completion, booth-level officers (BLOs) have shifted their focus to processing applications for voter addition, deletion and correction submitted before the Sept 23 deadline through Forms 6, 7 and 8. The electoral machinery has until Oct 22 to dispose of pending claims and objections.Form 6 is used to apply for inclusion in the electoral roll, Form 7 to seek deletion of a name, and Form 8 to update voter details, shift registration to another address, or replace an elector photo identity card (EPIC).An official from the chief electoral officer’s office said most of the nearly 19.5 lakh applications have been processed, with the remaining forms expected to be cleared by the end of the week.A BLO supervisor in Mahadevapura said physical verification of applicants under Forms 6 and 8 had begun alongside house-to-house verification of documents submitted by voters served notices.Although no Form 7 application had been received at his booth, applications under Form 8 to shift voter registration to Mahadevapura would automatically generate a Form 7 request to delete the voter’s name from the previous address.Karnataka has received 58,220 Form 7 applications, around 80% of which are generated through Form 8 applications when voters shift their registration, a senior official said.Assistant electoral registration officers in Bengaluru Central said BLOs had also begun processing Forms 6 and 8 even as the notice and hearing process continued.Meanwhile, the deputy commissioners of Bidar and Vijayapura told TOI that no notices had been issued to applicants or those whose names were challenged in constituencies that witnessed attempts at mass deletions through bulk Form 7 applications, as the objections had been withdrawn.Voter applications received before Sept 23Form 6 (new voter registration): 7,86,520Form 6A (overseas voter registration): 4,528Form 7 (deletion of names): 58,220Form 8 (corrections, shifting of residence and replacement of EPIC): 10,99,875
