Man held for stabbing wife to death

Hyderabad: A 28-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her husband at their residence in Balapur on Monday night following a domestic dispute. Police arrested the accused on Tuesday. The victim, Ajmeera Begum, worked as a daily wage labourer at function halls in New Baba Nagar and Jalpally under the Balapur police station limits.Police said Ajmeera, a native of West Bengal, had moved to Hyderabad about two years ago with her husband Mustafa and their three sons in search of livelihood. The family was living in a rented house.“Mustafa killed Ajmeera suspecting her fidelity. We will produce him before the magistrate for judicial remand,” Adibhatla ACP DV Pradeep Kumar Reddy said.“For the past year, Mustafa remained at home without any employment. He used to frequently quarrel with my daughter, suspecting her character and also used to object to her going out for work. We had counselled him on multiple occasions, but Mustafa did not mend his ways,” Ajmeera’s mother Reena Bibi alleged in her complaint.According to the police, Ajmeera returned home from work around 6 pm on Monday, following an argument that broke out between the couple. Reena Bibi, who lives opposite their house, intervened and advised them to stop quarrelling before leaving for work around 7 pm. Neighbours also stepped in later and pacified the couple. However, the dispute continued. “When my husband knocked on the door at around 8 pm, Mustafa shouted from inside that he had killed Ajmeera and fled from the house,” Reena Bibi told police.Alerted by local residents, family members rushed to the house and found Ajmeera lying in a pool of blood. Balapur police shifted the body for postmortem examination, while a Clues team visited the scene and collected evidence.A case was registered against Mustafa under Section 103(1) (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
