Kolkata: Belgachhia-Kashipur MLA Ritesh Tiwari on Thursday registered a case against Dhrubajyoti Basu who was associated with the Tala Prattoy Durga Puja Committee for allegedly occupying a public ground illegally.Tiwari alleged Tala Park Prattoy had been occupying almost 2 bigha of Tala Gymkhana ground—a govt property—since 2018. He claimed Tala Park Prattoy had also secured electricity from CESC in the name of Tala Park Association. Residents alleged the area was being used to store materials not of public interest. “Public playgrounds are meant for children and as a social space. Their occupation for non-public purposes raises concern about erosion of common civic resources. They have created an atmosphere of fear ,” said Tiwari.
