Ajmer: The Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) Saturday lodged an FIR with the cyber police station after detecting an alleged attempt to breach and manipulate its recruitment portal. The case came to light after online applications of three candidates for the Assistant Mining Engineer Recruitment Examination-2024 were withdrawn without authorisation.RPSC is a constitutional body of the Government of Rajasthan, and is responsible for conducting recruitment to state civil services and other posts, as well as advising the state govt on service matters, rules, promotions, and disciplinary cases.According to RPSC secretary Ramniwas Mehta, the recruitment examination was conducted and the result was declared on July 31, 2025. On Jan 1, 2026, one of the shortlisted candidates informed the commission via email that he received an SMS on Dec 29, 2025, stating that his application had been withdrawn, despite not initiating any such request.“The matter was taken seriously as there was no provision on the RPSC portal allowing candidates to withdraw applications at that stage. We immediately referred the issue to the Information Technology and Communication Department for investigation,” Mehta said. The dept’s probe reportedly ruled out any technical malfunction and confirmed unauthorised tampering with the portal. Investigators found that on Dec 29, 2025, around 6.30 pm, an unknown person allegedly created a new user account and withdrew three applications.“Digital forensic analysis indicates unauthorised access involving SSO IDs, email accounts and IP addresses. The accused appears to have manipulated applications to influence the selection process,” Mehta said.He added that the unknown accused also attempted to compromise the confidentiality of the commission’s recruitment system. The RPSC has warned that any attempt to tamper with or breach its online platforms constitutes a serious offence and will invite strict legal action. The cyber police have registered a case and begun an investigation to identify those responsible.
