Lucknow: Ruling out any possibility of robots replacing doctors, experts at a state-level refresher course and CME organised by IMA Lucknow said robots would help surgeons perform complex procedures with greater precision but would not replace them.Anil Khanna said the surgeon would take all decisions related to the procedure, while the robotic system would assist in carrying them out. Modern systems offer 3D visualisation, up to 10 times magnification and precise instrument movement. This can help reduce incision size, blood loss and post-operative discomfort and may speed up recovery in suitable patients.IMA Lucknow president Manoj Kumar Asthana said the magnified camera view and fine instruments help surgeons work precisely in small and difficult-to-reach areas, making the technology useful in complex procedures.IMA Lucknow secretary Shweta Srivastava said the CME covered kidney and liver transplantation, head and neck cancer, robotic surgery, severe asthma and neonatal care.Doctors from across Uttar Pradesh attended the programme.
