Rly meet on standardizing electrical equipment concludes

Varanasi: A two-day maintenance study group meeting focused on standardizing electrical equipment and circuits across the Indian Railways concluded on Saturday at the Varanasi division of the North Eastern Railway.Railway board member (Traction and Rolling Stock), R. Rajgopal, said that the primary objective of the meeting is to standardize electrical equipment and circuits so that train operations remain safe, punctual, and fault-free. He further informed that detailed discussions on the management of electrical energy on Indian Railways, green/renewable energy, reliability of passenger amenity and safety equipment, smart monitoring systems, and maintenance-related issues were held.Regarding circuit standardization, he reviewed the implementation of modified circuit diagrams and wiring schemes in 3-Phase locomotives across all zonal railways.For the integration of safety systems, he emphasized standardizing the circuit integration of Kavach, DPWCS, and VCD in electrical circuits. For short circuit and fault protection, he called for re-evaluation of ratings and relay settings of various circuit breakers (MCBs/VCBs).
