Ludhiana: Residents and business owners across Chander Nagar, Anand Nagar, Haibowal, and Civil Lines have been hit by recurring power outages lasting between three and eight hours daily for the past three days.The prolonged disruptions have affected household routines and crippled local business operations, prompting demands for immediate intervention by power authorities.Local business owners reported that frequent outages directly affect their daily work. Hitesh Bansal, a grocery store owner, said, “It is a part of the routine nowadays to experience daily life along with power outages. Earlier, during the peak summer weather the locals had to deal with the power cuts and heat, now there is a little change in weather conditions but power supply is must for the smooth flow of business activities.”Meanwhile, salon owner Vishal highlighted the frequency of outages, “The first power cut in the morning is expected at 11 AM, after which two more power cuts are experienced on daily basis in one day only. I have a salon business, I need air conditioning, charging of my equipment but this disruption in power supply acts as a barrier.”Homemakers also reported difficulty keeping up with household chores and maintaining inverter backups. Pooja, a local resident, said, “Almost all the household appliances require electricity supply, the inverters also require electricity to get enough power backup. These power cuts are affecting our routine on daily basis. Now it is the third day of the same situation. The concerned authorities should consider the matter.”Addressing the disruptions, Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) officials attributed the outages to ongoing infrastructure projects rather than official load shedding. A senior PSPCL official said, “There are development projects underway, including installation of new electricity transformers, cables and other equipments. However, this might be the reason for the power disruption, otherwise currently there are no planned outages.”
