AHMEDABAD: The city police have launched an inquiry after a video surfaced online showing a person sitting on a police emergency vehicle and filming a social media reel at the Sabarmati Riverfront. The clip, which has gone viral, shows the individual dressed in a black sari perched on the bonnet of what is believed to be a 112 Janrakshak vehicle, a unit meant for emergency response, public safety and patrolling. The footage is suspected to have been shot at the lower promenade on the eastern side of the riverfront, reportedly at night.

Police officials said several details are still unclear. B P Rajia, inspector at Sabarmati Riverfront East police station, said the exact location has not yet been confirmed from the video, and the vehicle number is not clearly visible. Authorities are also trying to establish whether the clip is recent or from an earlier date. The process of registering a formal complaint is underway. The video has triggered criticism, with questions being raised about how a person was allowed to use an official police vehicle for filming content. Also, the video appears to have been filmed at night, adding to concerns regarding monitoring in the area. “Once the vehicle is identified, the cops who were on duty will also be questioned as to how they permitted the shooting on the govt vehicle and that too on duty,” said a senior cop. Cops said a detailed investigation is underway to identify the person in the video and establish how the reel was made using a police vehicle.
