Ahmedabad: A city sessions court here on Wednesday refused to grant anticipatory bail to Chetan Solanki, who had rented his house on Ramol-Gatrad road where a firecracker-making unit was being run and where a powerful blast on July 18 killed 11 persons.According to public prosecutor Sudhir Brahmbhatt, Solanki sought legal protection from the court fearing an arrest on the ground that he had nothing to do with the activities being carried out by the factory owners, who were arrested after the explosion. He had merely given the premises on rent. The prosecution opposed the application by submitting that Solanki had executed a notarised rent agreement with the accused persons without demanding any document to ascertain whether the accused persons held any legal permission to manufacture firecrackers.
