Rajkot: A 42-year-old businessman, Ghanshyamsinh Vaghela, was allegedly stabbed to death in Rajkot on Saturday evening. Police suspect the attack was linked to a two-year-old attempted murder case pending in court.According to police, Ghanshyamsinh was attacked around 6:30pm while travelling from Jalaram Chowk towards Bhaktinagar Circle. He was taken to a private hospital but succumbed to his injuries during treatment.His father, Anupsinh Vaghela (70), filed an FIR at Bhaktinagar police station against Dharmendrasinh Vaghela and an unidentified accomplice under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for murder and criminal conspiracy.The complainant alleged that the accused had been pressuring the family to settle a two-year-old attempted murder case stemming from a Navratri-night stabbing incident in Bhader village in Dhoraji taluka. The case is currently pending before the Dhoraji sessions court.Earlier on Saturday, two men on a scooter were reportedly seen searching for Anupsinh and Ghanshyamsinh at a medical store. CCTV footage identified one of them as Dharmendrasinh.Police said Ghanshyamsinh was sitting in a car with a friend when a man called him outside. Based on the victim’s statement to his father before he died, Dharmendrasinh allegedly stabbed him in the chest and inflicted multiple knife wounds. The attackers fled after the victim’s friends intervened.Dharmendrasinh has been detained for questioning and a search operation is underway for the second suspect, police said.The victim was involved in oil engine business, police added.
