Rajkot: seven-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by her uncle at a private factory in the Shapar-Veraval industrial area on the outskirts of Rajkot on Monday, police said. The accused was arrested soon after a complaint was registered.The girl’s 35-year-old mother lodged a complaint at the Shapar-Veraval police station. According to police, the girl was alone in a residential room at the factory after her two siblings had left for school. The accused entered the room and sexually assaulted her.The incident came to light when the girl’s mother returned home at around 7.30pm. The child told her mother about the assault, following which the family approached the police.“The accused, aged around 28 to 30 years and originally from Bihar, had been working as a casual labourer in Rajkot district for the past seven to eight years. He was arrested immediately after the complaint was registered,” said R B Rana, inspector at the Shapar-Veraval police station.The accused was booked under Section 65(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act, police said, adding that he is a father of two children.
