Ludhiana: Heavy rain on Thursday morning brought much-needed relief from the humidity. The showers led to a noticeable drop in temperature, making the weather significantly more pleasant. The meteorological department has forecast further rainfall activity in the city over the coming days. According to meteorological officials, Ludhiana recorded 2.8mm rainfall between 8.30am on Wednesday and 8.30am on Thursday. An additional 8.1mm rainfall was recorded between 8.30am and 5.30pm on Thursday, indicating active monsoon conditions in the district. The rainfall had a direct impact on temperatures. Maximum temperature settled at 32.4 degrees Celsius, 0.9 degrees below normal and 2.1 degrees lower than the previous day. Minimum temperature was recorded at 25 degrees Celsius, one degree below normal and 1.4 degrees lower than the previous day’s reading. The cooler weather came as a welcome change after a prolonged spell of hot and humid conditions. Humidity levels remained high, with 90% humidity recorded at 8.30am on Thursday, around 5% above the normal level for this time of the year. With temperatures remaining below normal, the meteorological department has issued a yellow alert for Ludhiana district for Friday. The alert indicates the possibility of light to moderate rain, accompanied by spells of heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places. Authorities have advised residents to remain cautious and keep an eye on weather updates.
