The system bottleneck has forced numerous residents—including students and parents seeking essential documents before academic deadlines—to make repeated visits over consecutive days.

Ludhiana: Recurring technical glitches and slow processing speeds on the E-Sewa portal continued to disrupt operations at sewa kendras across Ludhiana, leaving hundreds of applicants facing severe delays. While the digital system functioned normally during the early morning hours, severe server sluggishness triggered massive backlogs at the service windows daily after 11 am.The system bottleneck has forced numerous residents—including students and parents seeking essential documents before academic deadlines—to make repeated visits over consecutive days. Applicants who arrived as early as 7.30 am to beat the crowd reported waiting past mid-afternoon without completing routine tasks, while centre employees faced growing public frustration due to the server performance drops.Several visitors narrated their struggles at the centres. Robin Sahni, who arrived with his wife Devki, daughter, and son to secure copies of a birth certificate and Class 10 documentation, noted they had made futile visits for four consecutive days. Devki said, “Yesterday, we took the token but our turn didn’t come. Now we are sitting since the door opened and our turn still hasn’t come at 2 pm.”Sonia, a mother waiting since 7.30 am for her son’s birth certificate for school submission, stated, “I came here in the morning so that the digital copy of birth certificate of my son, that his school is demanding could be made, but the process has been moving very slowly. Every time we are told that the server is slow or the portal is taking time to respond.”Similarly, applicant Dalvir Kaur highlighted the professional toll of the technical failure, explaining she had to skip work for two days. She noted she had received ten calls from her office asking when she was coming back while her son’s paperwork remained unexecuted.Other centres reported identical bottlenecks. Jaswant Kaur, who migrated to the District Administrative Complex centre after her application for the Maawan Dhiyan Satkar scheme failed at the Haibowal branch, reported a three-hour wait after arriving at 11 am. Meanwhile, property registry applicant Sarabjit Singh left the centre for three hours after drawing a token, only to return and find the portal completely down.Assistant district manager Devinder acknowledged the persistent infrastructure issues but stated that the interruptions are tied to scheduled back-end maintenance. Devinder clarified, “Since servers were being updated, we hope that the portal would start functioning normally after these get updated.”
