Punjab IAS officer Harpreet Sudan joins MC as special commissioner

Chandigarh: Harpreet Singh Sudan, a 2013-batch IAS officer of the Punjab cadre, Friday joined the municipal corporation (MC), Chandigarh, as special municipal commissioner. The exact responsibilities of the newly appointed officer are yet to be finalised. Sources said Sudan may either be allotted specific departments or serve as a coordinating link between the three joint municipal commissioners and the MC commissioner. The post was earlier held by Pradeep Kumar, who is being relieved. Kumar did not handle any specific department but primarily coordinated between the joint commissioners and the commissioner, with most files routed through him before reaching the civic chief.Sources said Sudan’s role will be crucial in the MC’s administrative functioning, particularly in streamlining coordination among various departments and senior officers.Sudan has joined the Chandigarh administration on an intercadre deputation from Punjab for a period of three years, or as decided by the Union ministry of home affairs (MHA), which approved his appointment from the panel of Punjab cadre IAS officers.Pic Caption:Harpreet Singh Sudan, a 2013-batch Punjab cadre IAS officer, after joining as special municipal commissioner of the municipal corporation, Chandigarh, on Friday
