Punjab cabinet eases capital subsidy norms to boost industry | Chandigarh News



Chandigarh: The Punjab cabinet on Monday approved amendments to the state’s capital subsidy and investment incentive guidelines, aiming to simplify subsidy disbursement and give a boost to industrial development.The amendments to the guidelines issued on Nov 13, 2019, are intended to streamline the process of releasing capital subsidies, improve administrative efficiency and ensure uniform implementation across eligible industrial units.Under the revised framework, capital subsidy will be released to industrial units after the omission of two clauses in the existing guidelines, subject to verification of requisite documents and fulfilment of prescribed conditions.The cabinet also approved the implementation of the State Data Integration Platform (SDIP) to integrate databases across departments, eliminate duplication and streamline government processes.A three-tier steering committee headed by the chief secretary will oversee the implementation of the project. The committee will include the administrative secretary, good governance, as member-convener and administrative secretaries of other departments as members.In another decision, the cabinet approved the creation of the post of additional deputy commissioner (general) and supporting staff for Dasuya sub-division in Hoshiarpur district.Finance minister Harpal Singh Cheema said the move would benefit residents of the area, who currently have to travel long distances for district-level administrative work, approvals, revenue matters and grievance redressal. The proposal envisages the creation of five posts, including that of additional deputy commissioner (general).
