Platforms 1, 2 at Chandigarh railway station closed till Oct 15
Several trains, including the Vande Bharat and Shatabdi Express, will operate from other platforms during this period. According to the Railways, trains will mainly be handled from platforms 3, 4, 5 and 6, depending on operational requirements.

Chandigarh: Passengers travelling from Chandigarh railway station will need to check platform information before boarding their trains, as platforms 1 and 2 will remain closed till Oct 15 for redevelopment work.Several trains, including the Vande Bharat and Shatabdi Express, will operate from other platforms during this period. According to the Railways, trains will mainly be handled from platforms 3, 4, 5 and 6, depending on operational requirements.The closure is part of the phased redevelopment of the station being undertaken by the Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA). A power and traffic block has been planned for the erection and launching of the remaining girders and removal of girders from the existing foot overbridge.As part of the phased work, platforms 5 and 6 remained closed from September 10 to 21, followed by platforms 3 and 4 from September 22 to October 3. The latest block covers platforms 1 and 2 from October 4 to 15.Railway authorities have cautioned that the block may result in changes to platform allocations for several trains. Some services have also been cancelled or short-terminated during different stages of the redevelopment work. Passengers have been advised to check the latest train and platform information before starting their journey.BOX | 12 trains cancelledAs many as 12 train services, including 14331/14332, 54532/54531, 14541/14542, 14630/14629, 74646/74991 and 74992/74645, have been cancelled for different periods between Sept 10 and Oct 15. The cancellations are expected to affect 442 train trips, putting additional pressure on alternative services used by daily commuters.Railway officials have advised passengers to verify their train’s platform, running status and any schedule changes before reaching the station.
