Phase 1-2 road to be ready in 10 days, says Mohali mayor

Mohali: The municipal corporation (MC) Mohali has started the construction of a 12,500 square metre road connecting Phase 1 and Phase 2, with the Rs 55 lakh project expected to be completed within the next 10 days, mayor Sarabjit Singh Samana said Friday. The mayor said the project was being executed on a strict timeline to minimise inconvenience to residents. “The road covers around 12,500 square metres and is being constructed at a cost of Rs 55 lakh. The work has been assigned a 10-day deadline so that it can be completed at the earliest,” he said.Samana said the road work forms part of a larger infrastructure push under which road repair and construction projects worth about Rs 89 crore would be undertaken across Mohali. He said the civic body would prioritise roads requiring urgent attention. The mayor said work on the road near Do Singh had been delayed due to ongoing sewerage and public utility works at the site. With the sewerage network now completed and stabilised, the road construction has been taken up.He said the objective was not only to repair damaged stretches but also to strengthen road and drainage infrastructure to better withstand future monsoon conditions.Samana added that the MC would continue monitoring vulnerable locations across the city and undertake necessary infrastructure works on a priority basis under the broader road development programme.
