Shillong: Two motorcycle-borne suspects hurled petrol bombs at Laban Police Station early on Saturday, with no injuries reported.The suspects, who were yet to be identified, threw two Molotov cocktails around 2.30 am. No one was injured, and no major damage to the police station was reported. However, the hood of a police jeep parked inside the compound was partially burnt.CCTV footage showed two police personnel inside the premises running for safety.“An investigation into the incident is underway to identify and nab the perpetrators and determine the motive behind the attack,” East Khasi Hills district SP Vivek Syiem said.SP said police were analysing the CCTV footage to determine the sequence of events. A case has been registered.This was the third police station within Shillong city limits to be attacked with petrol bombs in four weeks. Security measures had been strengthened after incidents of tyre burning across the city in recent weeks.
