Two held with ₹89k worth of counterfeit notes in Chittor

Bhilwara: Two persons were arrested and 178 counterfeit notes worth Rs 89,000 were recovered during a blockade in the Satkhanda area of Chittorgarh district Wednesday, police said.Police identified the accused as Ahsan Mohammed (34), a resident of Pratapgarh district, and Sameer Khan (35), a resident of Chittorgarh district.Chittorgarh SP Dharmendra Singh said that a team led by Nimbahera Sadar SHO Sanjay Sharma made the recovery and arrest during a vehicle search.Singh said that a bunch of Rs 500 notes was found inside the vehicle’s dashboard. A total of 178 notes, worth Rs 89,000, were found to be counterfeit. Singh added that 86 original Rs 500 notes, totalling Rs 43,000, were kept with the counterfeit notes to make the stash look authentic.
