Over 19 lakh houses built under PMAY-G in Raj: CM

Jaipur: Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma Tuesday said more than 19 lakh pucca houses have been constructed in Rajasthan under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) since its launch in 2016.The Centre had set a target of 24.97 lakh houses for the state, of which over 24.32 lakh have been approved and 19.46 lakh completed so far. To support implementation, the Union govt has allocated more than Rs 3,283 crore.In the past three financial years alone, Rs 2,771 crore has been released, with the highest allocation of Rs 1,641 crore in 2025–26. The scheme provides direct financial assistance to eligible rural households to build permanent homes, aiming to improve living standards and reduce poverty.The state govt said it is working towards achieving the ‘Housing for All’ target by 2029.At the national level, budget allocation for rural development has risen by over 211% in the past decade—from Rs 87,765 crore in 2016–17 to Rs 2.73 lakh crore in 2026–27—reflecting sustained investment in rural infrastructure and livelihoods.
