Noida: The electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure at Sector 90 bus depot, which serves a fleet of 100 electric buses operating across the district and connects the Noida International Airport, will be managed by a private agency. The depot presently has 10 DC fast chargers, each with a capacity of 240 kW. However, with increasing demand for the charging units, Noida Authority has invited eligible firms to operate and manage the charging facility. The selected agency will be responsible for round-the-clock operation and maintenance of the charging station and will have to deploy engineers, technicians, operators and housekeeping staff, 24×7, to ensure uninterrupted operations.“Its responsibilities will include preventive and breakdown maintenance of chargers, upkeep of electrical installations, monitoring of safety systems and ensuring compliance with prescribed operational and safety standards,” an official said. The contract will initially be awarded for a period of three years, with a provision for extension based on the agency’s performance. The interested agencies must have prior experience in operating and maintaining EV charging infrastructure, with an average annual turnover of at least Rs 2.5 crore in the last three financial years, to qualify for the bidding process. The electric buses connect multiple residential, educational and commercial centres in Noida, Greater Noida and the Yamuna Authority area, besides being a key initiative towards clean mobility.
