Chandigarh: Chandigarh Police has arrested four men for allegedly assaulting a student studying in France and brandishing a firearm outside a nightclub in Sector 7 following a late-night altercation.The accused have been identified as Aniket Gupta (30), a resident of Sector 38, Chandigarh; Baldeep Singh alias Bali (33) of Kotla village in Fatehgarh Sahib district, Punjab; Jagdeep Singh Kang alias Jaggi (33) of Rupnagar; and Tanminder Singh (28) of Bathinda.According to the complaint, Dhruv Trehan and his friend Swapan Thind were present at a nightclub in Sector 7 around 2 am on July 12 when an argument broke out. Police said Aniket Gupta allegedly returned with his associates and assaulted Dhruv with punches, kicks and a steel kada.The complainant alleged that the accused also lifted a table and hurled it towards them and issued death threats during the altercation.Dhruv further alleged that the accused later retrieved a weapon from a BMW X7 parked outside the club and waved it to intimidate him. The complaint also accused them of ramming into several vehicles and attempting to run over people present outside the venue.Dhruv suffered injuries to his head, hand and left ear in the incident, police said.Based on his complaint, Sector 26 police registered a case and launched an investigation. Acting on leads, a team from the operation cell raided Karnal in Haryana and arrested all four accused Tuesday before bringing them to Chandigarh for further questioning.
