Times News NetworkChandigarh: The Registering and Licensing Authority (RLA) of the Chandigarh administration has earned over Rs 4.1 crore by auctioning fancy registration numbers of the newly launched CH-01-DE series. However, there were no bidders for 48 numbers, which will be put up for auction again.Officials said these leftover numbers fall exclusively in the auction category and cannot be allotted under routine registration.“Earlier, the leftover numbers were auctioned separately, but now they will be included along with fancy and choice numbers of the new vehicle series to be launched in the coming months. Interested bidders will be given ample time to register and participate,” sources told TOI.Leftover numbers include double, triple and four-digit combinations, with reserve prices ranging between Rs 10,000 and Rs 20,000. RLA hopes to fetch a good amount by re-auctioning them alongside numbers of fresh series.Auctioning fancy and choice registration numbers remains one of the key revenue streams for the Chandigarh administration. To maximise participation, the RLA advertises the auctions widely. Before launching a new series, the authority allows one week for registration, followed by three days of bidding.Officials said the process is designed to ensure transparency and encourage maximum public participation.
