TIMES NEWS NETWORKMangaluru: Mangaluru-based actress Roopashree Varkady has shared her immense happiness after winning the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the Kannada film ‘Mithya’.Addressing reporters alongside director Sumanth Bhat and child actor Athish S Shetty, who also won a National Award for the same film, on Tuesday, she said, “I never imagined that I would receive a National Award for my acting. Receiving this recognition brings me immense joy, especially after experiencing numerous ups and downs in my career.”The actress, whose theatrical career spans more than 25 years, has completed over 4,000 performances in more that 700 plays in Kannada and Tulu.After entering professional theatre through veteran director Vijay Kumar Kodialbail’s play ‘Samsara Da Circus’, she received formal training from Christopher Ninasam and Viddu Uchchil Rangayana. She said her extensive filmography includes over 85 films across Tulu, Kannada, Konkani, Beary, and Arebhashe.Sharing his excitement, child actor Ateesh said, “Receiving this recognition for ‘Mithya’ has made my biggest life dream come true.” Director Sumanth Bhat recalled how the film came to fruition with support from actor Rakshit Shetty.
