GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma came to the defence of his cabinet colleague Keshab Mahanta after videos of the minister’s daughter joining a protest over alleged NEET examination irregularities surfaced online, saying she may not share her father’s political views.The protest in Guwahati on Thursday was held against examination irregularities and sought the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.The demonstration drew attention after Dibisa, daughter of Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) leader and Assam minister Keshab Mahanta, joined the protesters.Videos of Dibisa raising slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and demanding Pradhan’s resignation have since been widely circulated on social media.Reacting to the videos, Sarma urged people not to troll Mahanta over his daughter’s participation, pointing out that children may not necessarily follow their parents’ political ideology.(With PTI inputs)
