Inspector, crime branch officials shunted for lawlessness

Pune: After repeated firing incidents in the jurisdiction of the Khadak police station on Friday, the Pune city police commissioner, Amitesh Kumar, on Saturday shunted the senior inspector of Khadak police station and crime branch officials.As per the order, these officials have been transferred to the police control room.On Friday morning, a man suffered a bullet injury while his friend escaped unhurt when two motorcycle-borne men opened fire at them outside the Ghorpade Peth police chowky.The injured man, Khwajauddin Shaikh (29) of Ganesh Peth, has been admitted to a hospital. The police said the suspects had been after him for the last few months.In a separate case, minors fired bullets twice in Lohiyanagar around 6pm on Friday. No one was injured in the incident. The Khadak police on Saturday said the two groups of minors had picked up a fight over the issue of a cricket match that had taken place about three months ago.One of the groups decided to teach a lesson to the other group, and a member of that group visited Madhya Pradesh to get a firearm. The police have detained the minors in the case.
