CHANDIGARH: INLD national president Abhay Singh Chautala on Friday visited Jantar Mantar in New Delhi to extend the party’s support to students protesting over the alleged NEET paper leak.Meeting student representatives, he said Haryana had historically spearheaded movements for change and assured the protesting students of the party’s “full support” in their fight for a fair and transparent examination system.“The country’s youth are its future and we are committed to safeguarding their future. These young people are leading the fight for change and the INLD stands firmly with them,” Chautala said.Meanwhile, the Indian National Lok Dal’s youth wing, the Indian National Students’ Organisation (INSO), and the party’s legal cell organised protests across all districts of Haryana and submitted memoranda addressed to the President through the deputy commissioners, demanding a judicial probe into the alleged paper leak.Addressing a press conference in Chandigarh, INLD national patron and former Haryana home minister Prof Sampat Singh condemned the police action against students protesting at Jantar Mantar, alleging that the use of lathis, tear gas and pellet guns on peaceful demonstrators was an attack on democracy and the Constitution.He alleged that repeated examination paper leaks had shattered the aspirations of lakhs of students and accused the Centre of suppressing dissent instead of addressing their concerns. Calling for a transparent, leak-free examination system, Sampat Singh demanded a judicial inquiry into the alleged NEET paper leak, the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and an inquiry by a sitting or retired High Court judge into the police action at Jantar Mantar. He also sought a public apology from the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister and urged the Centre to begin talks with student representatives.
