Varanasi: Construction of the four-lane elevated road connecting Faridpur on the Outer Ring Road to Sarnath is progressing rapidly, marking a key step towards easing traffic congestion and improving direct access to the prominent tourist destination.The 1.18-km elevated corridor is being built by the Uttar Pradesh State Bridge Corporation Ltd (Setu Nigam) at an estimated cost of ₹161 crore.The project aims to remove bottlenecks on the existing narrow route and provide smoother connectivity from Kasturba Gandhi Vidyalaya/Ring Road at Faridpur to the Sarnath Railway Station area, passing near the Water Treatment Plant and Vietnam Temple.A joint team from the Varanasi Municipal Corporation, district administration and Setu Nigam inspected the project site on Thursday to review the progress of ongoing work. Municipal Commissioner Himanshu Nagpal assessed the construction status and directed officials to ensure that the work continues without obstruction.He also instructed officials to maintain close coordination with the Varanasi Development Authority to ensure smooth execution of the project.
