Navi Mumbai: The crime detection branch team of CBD-Belapur police station on Tuesday arrested the second accused from Pune in the murder case of a daily wage labourer whose body—with his head smashed with a stone—was found under the flyover near NMMC headquarters on April 17 morning. The first accused was arrested on April 24 by tracing him to the pavement near Cotton Green railway station, Mumbai. DCP (Zone-2) Amit Kale said, “Initially, an empty country liquor bottle and an antiseptic cream tube were found at the spot; we inquired about their batch numbers with the wine shops and medical stores in CBD-Belapur. It was found that the victim, accompanied by the two accused, had purchased them and they were spotted in the CCTV footage at a wine shop and a medical store. Thus, we obtained the images of the two accused.”
