Silchar: A 35-year-old truck driver from Assam’s Cachar district was killed after being trapped between two vehicles on the Silchar-Aizawl National Highway-306 in Mizoram’s Kolasib district on Friday.The deceased was identified as Javed Mazumder, a resident of Saidpur under Silchar Sadar police station in Cachar district.According to sources, Mazumder was driving a loaded truck towards Aizawl when it developed a mechanical problem near Thindol in Kolasib district. He pulled over and was repairing the vehicle by the roadside when a tractor allegedly went out of control and rammed into the stationary truck.Mazumder, who was standing near the truck, was trapped between the two vehicles. He sustained critical injuries and died on the spot, sources said.Authorities were informed, and the required formalities were initiated.Family members and representatives of a Cachar-based drivers’ association left for Mizoram to bring his body home, sources said.
