Bengaluru: Commuters on Outer Ring Road (ORR) had a narrow escape Friday night when a metal casting sheet from an under-construction Metro viaduct fell onto the road at Kadubeesanahalli during peak-hour traffic.Dashcam footage recorded by commuter Nidhi Kalani shows the nearly one-metre-long sheet falling from the Kadubeesanahalli station section of Blue Line, which is under construction. At 9.48pm, the sheet landed between a BMTC AC e-bus and Nidhi’s car, avoiding a possible major accident.“There was heavy traffic and vehicles were moving very slowly. I heard a sound and slammed the brakes really hard before I saw it coming down. That saved my bonnet. There were three of us in the car. If I had been on a two-wheeler, it would have been dangerous,” Nidhi said. She said the sheet was very heavy and commuters were lucky to escape without injury. BMRCL confirmed that no one was injured. “We have initiated an internal investigation to find out what led to the fall. Further steps will be taken only after that,” a BMRCL spokesperson told TOI.
