Vasai: Waliv police on Monday arrested a slumdweller from Nalasopara for allegedly raping a 30-year-old doctor from Vasai after posing as an engineer on a matrimonial website and tricking her into meeting him while pretending to be a ‘playboy’.The accused, identified as Subhash Satpute (34), contacted the complainant posing as Kumar Jadhav, an engineer earning Rs 37 lakh annually, on a matrimonial website in June. The doctor liked his profile and agreed to consider the proposal. The accused allegedly told her that she would have to have a physical relationship with a ‘playboy’ to test her sexual compatibility before marriage.Police said Satpute provided her with a phone number and told her to meet the ‘playboy’ at a hotel. She met the man, recorded a video of the sexual act, and sent it to the accused, as instructed. Later, Satpute allegedly refused to marry her, claiming that if he married her, he would die within three months. The woman later learnt that the ‘playboy’ was Satpute.She approached Waliv police, who registered a case under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for rape and cheating as well as under the Information Technology Act. Police tracked down and arrested Satpute from his residence in a slum pocket in Nalasopara, said inspector Gorakhnath Jaid.Police said they found that Satpute had created multiple fake Instagram accounts.
