NMIA adds MSRTC buses, transit hotel as connectivity and passenger services expand

Mumbai: Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) and MSRTC on Wednesday inaugurated bus services to the airport from Dadar, CSMT, Borivali and Pune. The first phase will operate 16 daily services on the NMIA-Dadar/CSMT corridors, 8 to Borivli and 2 to Pune using key routes, including Atal Setu, said the airport in a press statement. The bus facility is not restricted to passengers holding an NMIA flight ticket. People who are not flying from Navi Mumbai airport can also use these services, making them a broader public transport link between the airport and Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The Dadar/CSMT service will travel via Ulwe, Nhava Sheva/Chirle, Atal Setu, Sewri, Eastern Freeway, Byculla, Parel and Lalbaug. The Borivali service will run via Atal Setu, Eastern Freeway, Eastern Express Highway/Sion, Mumbai Airport Terminal 1, JVLR, Andheri and Western Express Highway. The bus fare applicable for the NMIA-Borivli route is Rs 210, the NMIA-Dadar route is Rs 170 and to Pune it’s Rs 455 to Swargate. MSRTC said services to Thane, Nashik and other Maharashtra towns are planned as the network expands. Subhash Murikenchery, chief airport officer, NMIA, said the services strengthen NMIA’s links with Mumbai Metropolitan Region and neighbouring cities, giving passengers reliable access from key residential and commercial centres. In another development, Adani Airport Holdings Ltd (AAHL) launched an 80-room Swirl Transit Hotel at NMIA’s Terminal 1. Located on the arrivals level, the hotel offers four-hour and overnight stays for passengers with long layovers, early departures and late arrivals. It includes a 24-hour dining restaurant, along with round-the-clock in-room dining, grab-and-go options and a bar. The hotel is part of AAHL’s push to expand non-aeronautical services at its airports.
