Ahmedabad: A fake profile, a false name, and months of online threats to a 17-year-old girl led the police to arrest a married man from Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. The accused befriended the teenager on social media, posing as a 23-year-old unmarried Hindu youth named “Sonu”. Once he gained her trust, he allegedly pushed her to make explicit video calls, sought a physical meeting, and threatened to defame her when she resisted.The girl, who is from Kanbha, studies in another city and lives in a hostel.According to police, the accused — Bittukhan Rahishkhan, 25, — contacted her in Feb through a messaging app and gradually gained her trust. He later obtained her mobile number and continued chatting with her on WhatsApp.Police said that over the past two months, he allegedly pressured the minor to join explicit video calls and repeatedly tried to persuade her to meet him for a physical relationship. When she refused, he allegedly threatened to circulate intimate images of her on social media and defame her.Police said the accused also tricked the girl into sharing her Gmail and Instagram passwords, monitored her accounts, and used that access to control her.The girl later informed her family, after which her mother approached the Kanbha police. A joint team of the local crime branch and Kanbha police was formed to trace the suspect.Their inquiry showed that he had concealed his real name, religion, and marital status. Officials said he is a Muslim man, married, and has one child.Rahishkhan was arrested under sections of BNS, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (Pocso) and the IT Act, said DySP (Sanand) Nilam Goswami on Friday.
