He questioned the rationale behind repeatedly declaring holidays as a precautionary measure, even when there is no rain.Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a district-level educational convention organised by the Dakshina Kannada District PU College Principals’ Association and Eduventure PU College in Bantwal on Saturday, he said, “Just because you have the authority, please do not take such actions in this manner.

You are all competent district officers, and we discuss many matters with you, but declaring holidays in this way publicly invites criticism and ridicule. Such decisions are highly unscientific.”However, the MLC said, “While taking such decisions, as I have mentioned many times before, precautions should be taken for nursery children. College students will not face such issues. They are older and have the capacity to manage.“Declaring blanket holidays for such students creates an atmosphere of anxiety among students, parents, teachers and college administrators. It is difficult to recover those lost days,” he said, urging the district administration to put an end to the practice of declaring blanket holidays.He said that asking children to report to school early in the morning to make up for lost days would only add to their burden, and would not ensure quality education. “It severely impacts children’s minds. Keeping all this in mind, decisions in the coming days should not be based solely on reports issued by the India Meteorological Department. Rather than relying only on district-wide forecasts, the district administration and the govt should assess weather conditions at the taluk level and take region-specific decisions,” the MLC suggested.“Please ensure that this district, which has consistently ranked first in education, maintains its top position. Deputy commissioner should exercise caution and act carefully on this matter in the coming days,” he added.
