Man held in Ahmedabad with stolen gold, silver worth Rs 7 lakh

Ahmedabad: The Zone 8 Local Crime Branch (LCB) arrested a 27-year-old labourer and recovered stolen gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 7.02 lakh from his possession, police said on Sunday.The accused, Afzalbeg Mirza, was apprehended from Vatva based on a tip-off received by LCB personnel during patrolling, police said.The recovery includes two gold bars weighing 49grams and 11.9grams, a five-gram gold biscuit, a gold ring and a silver ring. Police valued the recovered items at Rs 7,02,910.According to police, the accused was allegedly involved in two theft cases registered at Paldi and Sarkhej police stations. The cases had remained undetected.Police said the LCB team led by PSI Pradipsinh Sarvaiya was conducting checks in its jurisdiction when personnel received information about a suspect allegedly carrying stolen jewellery. A team intercepted Mirza in Vatva and recovered the valuables.The accused was handed over to the respective police stations for further investigation.
