Body in bedsheet: Man held for murder

Times News NetworkLudhiana: Four days after the body of a man, believed to be around 24 years old, was found wrapped in a bedsheet, Tibba police claimed to have solved the case with the arrest of the accused. However, the victim is yet to be identified.Police said the accused had carried the body on his shoulders with the intention of dumping it into Buddha Nullah, but accidentally dropped it in New Shakti Nagar, after which he was unable to move it again.The arrested accused has been identified as Harsh Kumar, 24, a resident of Masjid Wali Gali on Tibba Road. Police said he is addicted to drugs.ACP, Industrial Area-A, Inderjit Singh Boparai, said the accused told investigators that he had been living alone since the death of his parents. He met the victim, who was also allegedly a drug addict, three days before the incident.On Aug 5, the two reportedly had an argument while under the influence of drugs. The ACP said the accused allegedly bludgeoned the victim to death in a fit of rage.He then wrapped the body in a bedsheet and carried it on his shoulders, intending to dump it into Buddha Nullah. However, he dropped the body in New Shakti Nagar, where it was discovered by locals the following day.The ACP said police traced the accused with the help of CCTV footage collected from the area.ACP Boparai added, “The accused told police that the victim introduced himself as Hritik, but he does not have any other details about him. Police are working to establish the identity of the deceased.”
