Bhiwani: A 41-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death in Haryana’s Bhiwani district, a day after he objected to the harassment of women during a wedding procession.Videos of the incident have surfaced, purportedly showing a group of men armed with sticks while the victim lies face down, as bystanders attempt to intervene amid cries in the background. A separate CCTV clip has also emerged.The deceased has been identified as Rakesh Kumar, a resident of Roorkee in Uttarakhand, who worked with a travel agency. He had arrived in Baliyali village on April 17 with his family to attend his cousin Rohit’s wedding.According to a complaint filed by his son Ritik, the dispute began on April 21 when the wedding procession travelled to Singhana in Rajasthan. A group of youths allegedly misbehaved with women, triggering a confrontation. Rakesh and others intervened, after which the situation was brought under control and the procession returned.The next day, April 22, the accused allegedly barged into Rakesh’s house and attacked him with sticks and fists. At the time, Rakesh was at home along with relatives Dinesh and Aman. Family members said the attackers fled after issuing threats.Rakesh was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead. Dinesh sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment.Bawani Khera SHO Suresh Kumar said a case has been registered against six accused — Viveki, Amit, Gautam, Suraj, Surender and Sahil — under charges of murder and other sections of BNS.“CIA-2 teams are conducting raids to arrest the accused,” the SHO said.
