Rajkot: A 27-year-old married man was arrested in Upleta for allegedly sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl repeatedly after trapping her in a relationship and later uploading an objectionable video of her on Instagram after she ended their relationship.According to the complaint lodged by the girl’s mother, the accused allegedly obtained the minor’s Instagram password and screen-recorded her during a video call in which he had forced her to undress. After the relationship ended, he allegedly posted the video on the girl’s Instagram account, prompting a police investigation.The incident came to light after the girl’s relatives called her mother and informed her that an objectionable video had been uploaded to her Instagram account. When the mother questioned her daughter, the minor disclosed the alleged exploitation.The girl told her mother that she had become acquainted with the accused, who lived in the same village, around four years ago. They exchanged mobile numbers and began communicating. The accused allegedly gradually drew her into a relationship and repeatedly sexually assaulted her after calling her to his office.During the relationship, the accused allegedly obtained access to her Instagram account. He also forced her to remove her clothes during a video call and recorded the screen, according to the complaint.After the girl ended the relationship, the accused allegedly uploaded the objectionable video to her Instagram account. She immediately removed it, following which her family decided to approach the police.Upleta police registered a case under sections of the BNS, Pocoso Act and the Information Technology Act, and arrested the accused.Police inspector Hemendra Dhandhal told TOI that preliminary investigation revealed that the accused was employed as a labourer. He will be produced before a court on Thursday. Police have also conducted medical examinations of the girl and the accused and are collecting evidence as part of the investigation.
