Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis launched the Census-2027 campaign by completing self-enumeration digitally. The Governor and Chief Minister also appealed to citizens to participate in the national census. Jishnu Dev Varma completed the self-enumeration at Lokbhavan, the Goveror’s official residence, while Fadnavis completed self-enumeration at Varsha, his official residence. Bombay High Court Chief Justice Chandra Shekhar, Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar, Cultural Affairs and Information Technology Minister Ashish Shelar, Co-Guardian Minister of Mumbai Suburban District Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde and Deputy Mayor Sanjay Ghadi among other dignitaries also completed their self-enumeration. Census-2027 will be conducted in two phases. In the first phase, from May 1 to 15, citizens are required to complete self-enumeration digitally. Registration and self-enumeration must be done at the website https://se.census.gov.in. Under the same phase, from May 16 to June 14, census enumerators will visit households to verify and validate information. The second phase of the census will commence in February 2027, in which actual door-to-door enumeration will be carried out. Approximately 25,000 Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation employees are working as enumerators for the census in the BMC area. The civic administration has appealed to Mumbai citizens to participate in this census.
