Jind: As soon as protesting farmers decided to postpone their stir, Haryana police removed all barricades at the Datasinghwala-Khanauri border. The route for entering Haryana is now completely open. The development came on the fourth day of the standoff over the ‘Kisan Bachao Padyatra’, which was scheduled to begin from Datasinghwala village on Aug 16, but was stopped by the Haryana government. On Tuesday evening, the Haryana govt had invited the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) for talks. Following the invitation, a delegation of the farmers’ organisation met administrative officials. During the meeting, officials informed the farmer representatives that they had received a message from the central government, stating that Union minister Manohar Lal Khattar will meet the delegation on Sept 4.Following the meeting with the administration, senior office-bearers of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) held detailed discussions and decided to attend the meeting. The organisation said that agricultural and farmers’ issues would be strongly raised at the negotiating table. Accordingly, the ‘Kisan Bachao Padyatra’ has been postponed until Sept 4. Farmer leader Abhimanyu Kohar said that if the Sept 4 meeting produces positive results, the decision would be welcomed. “However, if the talks fail to yield a satisfactory outcome, the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) will hold a meeting and announce its future course of action,” he added.
