Bengaluru: In its efforts to improve admission to its schools, the state govt has now promised eight education guarantees.A post shared by chief minister Siddaramaiah and the department of school education Monday lists out the promises that will be rolled out in the next three years.They includes one teacher per class up to class 5 and subject-wise teachers from class 6, optional English medium in all schools with teachers receiving teacher training. It promises free transport for Karnataka Public School students. Computer teachers will be appointed in all KPSs in the next three years. There will also be dedicated teachers for arts, music and physical education.In another guarantee, the govt said it will recruit separate staff for non-teaching tasks, leaving teachers only for teaching.The learning quality will be monitored, with a lesson-based assessment system tracking each child’s progress and a mandatory parent-teacher meeting every two months. Skill education from grade 6 and special coaching for competitive exams are also among the eight guarantees.The target for the department is to get five million children in govt schools in the next five years, promising “the best govt school system in the country”. “Our five-year vision is clear: to build the best govt school system in the country.
