Karnataka high court notices over BDA HQ demolition plan

Bengaluru: The high court ordered notice to the state govt and BDA in response to a PIL challenging the resolution to demolish the civic authority’s head office and construct a new building in its place.A division bench of Justices Anu Sivaraman and KS Bharath Kumar directed the matter to be re-listed after notices are issued. The PIL, filed by Bengaluru residents BM Shivakumar and H Shivaram, challenged the BDA resolution passed on Dec 30, 2025.According to the petitioners, the resolution was passed and proposed demolition is being undertaken without placing it before any competent authority and assessment by public works department that the existing building is unsafe. They said BDA is a public authority and any demolition of the existing structure followed by reconstruction would have irreversible and serious consequences on public property and the exchequer.
