Hyderabad: Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje on Sunday accused the Congress party of deceiving the people of Telangana with empty promises. She claimed that these assurances were made to win votes, but that the party ultimately turned its back on the electorate. Karandlaje raised concerns about why no action has been taken against chief minister Revanth Reddy, suggesting that he is stealing from the people of Telangana. While addressing reporters in Hyderabad, she also criticised Rahul Gandhi‘s conduct in the Lok Sabha, calling it inappropriate.Furthermore, she denounced the INDI alliance for reacting to developments surrounding the women’s reservation and delimitation Bills in a way that, she implied, risks driving a wedge between North and South India. She had also questioned why the opposition had refused Union home minister Amit Shah’s request in the Lok Sabha for an additional hour to discuss a Bill that would add 50 more seats to each state. Karandlaje pointed out that comprehensive data from the population and caste census will be available by 2031. She noted that Modi introduced this legislation to enhance women’s representation and to increase the number of Lok Sabha seats in South India by the 2029 elections. She further added that Karnataka MP Tejaswi Surya’s comments on the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh were not intentional, nor were they meant to hurt anyone.
