New Delhi: A 20-year-old salon worker was stabbed to death by a group of four-five people in northwest Delhi’s Jahangirpuri Saturday, despite the efforts of two patrolling cops to rescue him. The policemen were themselves assaulted while trying to save the victim. Four people, including three juveniles, were apprehended and a search was on for the remaining assailants.The victim, identified as Irfan, a resident of B-block in Jahangirpuri, was rushed to Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital, but was declared dead on arrival.Police said a PCR call was received about an injured man at 8pm. By the time local police reached the spot, two head constables on beat patrol had already taken Irfan to hospital.According to police, Krishan and Sohan Lal were patrolling the area when they noticed a group attacking Irfan. The cops immediately intervened, pulled him away from the attackers and tried to escort him to safety. “However, the assailants chased the policemen, assaulted both of them and then attacked Irfan again with knives. The victim suffered fatal injuries. The cops sustained minor injuries in the attack,” a senior police officer.Police said, Irfan had gone to work at a local salon in the evening when around five people called him outside and took him away before attacking him.“Prima facie, it appears that the attackers belonged to a rival group and had a previous enmity with Irfan. However, the exact motive is yet to be ascertained,” the officer added.Police have registered a murder case under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and formed multiple teams to investigate the incident.Using CCTV footage and other evidence, investigators identified the suspects and apprehended them.
