Chandigarh: Former Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar on Wednesday accused the Bhagwant Mann-led AAP govt of allowing alleged irregularities in paddy procurement, claiming that farmers in border districts, particularly in Abohar in Fazilka district, were facing deductions of 6 to 8 kg per quintal. In a post on X, Jakhar questioned the state govt’s claim of being an honest administration, asking why such deductions were being made when the Centre had already provided the entire amount required for paddy procurement in advance. He also alleged that commission agents (arhtiyas) were being separately charged for every bag in the name of lifting. Targeting chief minister Bhagwant Mann, Jakhar demanded an immediate end to the alleged exploitation of farmers and commission agents.“Has your government still not had enough of looting people after nearly five years?” he asked in his post.
