BENGALURU: High drama unfolded on Magadi Road on Wednesday night when a group of men were thrashed by public and their car was damaged after they were suspected of attempting to kidnap a girl.However, the girl intervened and told the crowd that the men were her family members, including her father, who had come to take her back to Rajasthan.The girl later told police that she had married a man from another caste against her family’s wishes.She said she and her husband had recently come to Bengaluru, but her family had tracked her down and wanted her to return to Rajasthan.“I have married a man from another caste and my family was against it. Recently, we came here and my family somehow followed me. They wanted me to go back to Rajasthan,” she told police.A senior police officer said the girl was being requested to lodge a complaint so that further action could be taken.Meanwhile, six people, including a nine-year-old girl, sustained injuries in the incident, police said. One woman who suffered serious head injuries was shifted to the ICU of a nearby private hospital.The family’s vehicle was also badly damaged in the melee. Police said the car rammed into other vehicles as the family allegedly tried to escape from the spot.Police have detained the suspected persons and seized the car allegedly used to take the girl away, officials said.Police said no case had been registered so far and further action would depend on the girl’s complaint.
