NEW DELHI: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in several parts of the country on Tuesday, with Arunachal Pradesh, east Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Sikkim likely to see intense showers in parts.Several other states, including Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Bihar and Odisha, may also receive heavy rain.A red alert has also been issued for extremely heavy rainfall in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj.
IMD alert for Tuesday
The IMD has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places in Arunachal Pradesh, east Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Sikkim.Heavy rain is also likely in Assam, Meghalaya, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, east Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Odisha, Punjab, Uttarakhand and west Uttar Pradesh.Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are likely in parts of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.Parts of Bihar, east Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh and Telangana may also see thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds.
Delhi-NCR weather tomorrow
Delhi, Haryana and Chandigarh are likely to receive heavy rain at isolated places.
North India forecast
Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir are likely to see heavy to very heavy rain on Tuesday. Uttarakhand and west Uttar Pradesh may also receive heavy rain.Jammu and Kashmir may see very heavy rain at isolated places through Wednesday, while Himachal Pradesh is likely to remain under a very heavy rain warning through Wednesday.
Uttar Pradesh and central India forecast
East Uttar Pradesh is likely to receive heavy to very heavy rain on Tuesday, with thunderstorms and lightning also possible. West Uttar Pradesh may see heavy rain.Chhattisgarh and east Madhya Pradesh are also likely to receive heavy rain. Rainfall here is expected to remain widespread through the coming days.
Bengal, Jharkhand and Odisha weather
West Bengal and Sikkim are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places on Tuesday. Gangetic West Bengal may also see heavy rain through Wednesday.Jharkhand is likely to receive heavy to very heavy rain, while Odisha may see heavy rain on Tuesday. Rainfall activity is expected to continue over Jharkhand through Wednesday and Odisha through Thursday.Mayurbhanj is under a red alert for extremely heavy rainfall on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Northeast under rain watch
Arunachal Pradesh is likely to receive heavy to very heavy rain on Tuesday, while Assam and Meghalaya may see heavy rain.Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura are also likely to receive heavy rain. Thunderstorms and lightning are possible across parts of the Northeast.
West India forecast
Konkan and Goa are likely to continue receiving widespread rainfall, with heavy rain possible on Tuesday.Parts of central Maharashtra, Marathwada, Saurashtra and Kutch may also see rain over the coming days.
South India rain forecast
Parts of Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal and Telangana are likely to receive rain.Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal may see heavy rain on Tuesday and Wednesday, while thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are possible in parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.
Rainfall outlook for the next few days
Rainfall activity is expected to remain widespread across several parts of the country.Heavy to very heavy rain is likely to continue over parts of the Himalayan region, Uttar Pradesh, eastern India and the Northeast, while the west coast and parts of south India are also expected to remain wet.
