Guwahati: Manipur home minister Govindas Konthoujam on Monday told the assembly that the resettlement and rehabilitation of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) would be completed once the law and order situation in the state improves.He made the statement in response to Congress MLA Kangujam Ranjit Singh’s query on govt plans to compensate IDPs for movable property lost amid the Manipur crisis.He further informed the House that no compensation has been provided to the IDPs for the losses of movable assets to date. However, the home minister assured the House, while replying to the supplementary question seeking a stipulated time period for providing compensation for the losses of the movable assets of IDPs, that the govt would look into the matter of providing compensation after the resettlement and rehabilitation of IDPs are completed.
